Last updated October 2026

These terms cover your use of StashEm, an iPhone app for keeping track of where a household's things are kept, made by Geoffrey, an independent developer ("we" or "us"). By downloading or using StashEm, you agree to them.

1. This agreement

This agreement is between you and us, not Apple. It adds to Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement, which also applies.

  • We grant you a personal, non-transferable license to use StashEm on Apple devices you own or control, as the App Store's Usage Rules allow, including through Family Sharing.
  • We, not Apple, are responsible for StashEm and its content, for its maintenance and support, and for answering any claim about it, including claims that it fails to meet a legal or regulatory requirement, claims under consumer protection law, and claims that it infringes someone else's intellectual property. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for it.
  • If StashEm fails to meet a warranty that applies to it, you may tell Apple, and Apple will refund the price you paid, if any. To the extent the law allows, Apple has no other warranty obligation for StashEm.
  • You confirm that you are not in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated as supporting terrorism, and that you are not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
  • Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of this agreement. Once you accept it, Apple has the right to enforce it against you.

2. Using StashEm

StashEm is for personal and household use. You are responsible for what you enter and for keeping it accurate. Reminders, dates read from receipts, suggested names, values and totals depend on what you entered or confirmed. They are aids to memory, not guarantees.

3. Households

Whoever creates a household owns it. Its shared data is stored in the owner's iCloud account and counts toward their iCloud storage. Invite only people you trust: members can see and change everything shared in the household. Rooms and things marked Only me stay private to the person who marked them. If the owner stops sharing the household or deletes its data, members lose access to it, so anyone in the household can export a full backup at any time.

4. StashEm Plus

Saving and finding things are free, with no limit on the number of things, places or rooms, and joining a household you're invited to is always free. StashEm Plus is an optional one-time purchase, not a subscription, that adds inviting people into your household, more homes, widgets, a daily reminder, more shelves to catalog, printable labels, bundles, documents, serial number scanning, printable reports and more themes. The price is shown in the app before you buy.

  • Purchases are made and billed by Apple. Refunds are handled by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.
  • Plus is shared with your Apple Family Sharing group, and with every member of each StashEm household you belong to, for as long as you are a member.
  • If Plus ends, for example after a refund or when its buyer leaves a household, nothing you made is taken away. Labels still scan, documents still open, and a full backup is always free. Making new Plus items stops, and so do widgets and the daily reminder.
  • Use Restore Purchases in the app to restore Plus on a new device.

5. Your content

What you put into StashEm stays yours. We don't claim any rights to it and can't see it. The Privacy Policy explains where it is stored.

StashEm uses typefaces and code that others share under their own licenses, listed in the app under Settings › Privacy & support › Acknowledgements.

6. Acceptable use

  • Don't use StashEm for anything unlawful.
  • Don't copy, modify, reverse-engineer or redistribute the app, except where the law allows it.
  • Don't try to get around purchase checks or interfere with how the app works.

7. No warranty

To the extent the law allows, StashEm is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind. We don't promise it will be free of errors or always available, or that a sync will always complete. Keep a backup of anything important. An insurance report lists the values you entered; it is not a valuation, and whether a claim is accepted depends on your insurer.

8. Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses from using or being unable to use StashEm, including lost data or things that could not be found. Our total liability to you is limited to what you paid for StashEm Plus, if anything. Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law does not allow to be limited.

9. Services StashEm uses

StashEm relies on Apple services, including iCloud for storage and sharing, the App Store for purchases, and Siri and Shortcuts. Your use of them is covered by Apple's own terms, and you need an iCloud account for syncing and sharing. StashEm also sends anonymous usage counts and crash reports to PostHog, which you can turn off, as the Privacy Policy describes.

10. Changes and ending

We may update the app and these terms. When the terms change, the date at the top changes too, and important changes are noted in the app's release notes. Continuing to use StashEm after a change means you accept it. You can stop using StashEm at any time by deleting it. If we ever stop offering the app, what you've saved stays on your devices and in iCloud, and the copy of StashEm you have can still export a full backup.

These terms are governed by the laws of India, without affecting any rights you have under the consumer laws of the country where you live.
